Korean Middle School Student’s Own Musical
Compositions Played by

a 8th grade student in Dwight-Englewood School
Started composing around 20 songs since 5th gradeSung Yup Jung (13 years old ·in the picture), a 8th grade student who is attending private school at Dwight-Englewood School in NJ, firstly presented his musical compositions for orchestra that’s been played by New Jersey Philharmonic Orchestra.
On 11th (of this October), ‘Whimsica, Phantasia Farrago Exordium’, which comes along with beautiful orchestra tunes and pop-classical sound was performed during NJ Philharmonic’s invitational recital at the Dwight-Englewood School. Dreaming of a world-class composer, Jung started to compose music since 5th grade and created more than 20 piece of music including incomplete ones.
Jung who studies abroad in US since 2005 lives his everyday life with classical music by selecting more than 10,000 classic songs for his composition studies.
During last 5 years, Jung traveled more than 30 countries in the world, and got to know about each country’s music, especially after his visit to the city of music, Austria; The city left him unforgettable impressions, it made him fall in love with classical music. He grows his dream as a composer by listening to and feeling the music. Throughout several years of studying various old classical music like Mozart, Brahms, Beethoven, Debussy, Schubert and etc, he was able to criticize their pieces on his own.
Last year, he received one of the most famous awards of the school, called the Nicholas Randolph Trask Award. Nicholas Randolph Trask Award has established to memorize a 7th grade student, a role-model of many who showed excellence in school community life and helped others, died from a traffic accident in 1986. 7th grader students of this school pick one of each female and male students who are currently in 7th grade and grant this award. Jung is an excellent student who is very talented in many aspects and aced his classes with all A’s. He was also granted for a school’s Art award called ‘Studio Art’s Award’ in the same year. Jung is an only-child of Soo Tae Jung who engaged his life working for a construction industry and Young Soon Yoo.
